Information
Enroll a beloved friend or family member in a Novena of Masses to the Ulma Family.
The Novena is offered by a Legionaries of Christ June 28 through July 6.
Feast Day for the Ulma Family is July 7, 2026.
On September 10, 2023, Jozef and Wiktoria Ulma, along with all seven of their children, were declared Blessed. This was the first time that an entire family had been beatified. Their feast day is the anniversary of Jozef and Wiktoria's wedding.
Both Jozef and Wiktoria were born and raised in the same small Polish village where they later married, had six children, and were 8 months pregnant with their seventh. Faith was the foundation of their life, being dedicated members of their parish church and praying daily as a family. During WWII, eight Jews knocked on the Ulmas’ door. Jozef helped by hiding them in his attic. In the early hours of March 24, 1944, German officers broke into the Ulma home, killed all eight of the Jews, dragged the Ulma family into the village, and martyred the parents followed by the children. Twenty-one other Jews were hidden in the homes of that small village and saw liberation three months later. Those families, all fellow parishioners, followed the example of the Ulmas and continued to risk their lives for those who were in need.
